JUMP FOR THE CAUSE 2002
April Newsletter
Greetings once again!
April has been a particularly busy month for us at JFTC. As skydivers are emerging from their winter hibernation, we are getting tons of renewed interest in the Women’s World Record. Thanks to each of you who have been inundating Richard with information that has been requested. Please don’t stop. That’s what he’s here for! Mallory and I, along with Tony and Brad are all working on our projects that are going to make this Jump for the Cause the best one yet!
NEW BUSINESS:
Web Site: The website is growing and improving on a weekly basis. Please return often and hit "reload" to see the new additions.
For Sale Site: One of the improvements to the site is the addition of a FOR SALE site. This currently has the postcards of the ’99 event that many women are getting to use as thank you notes for people who are contributing to there cause. Our goal is to also include all the items that individual women have created to sell for the event. This will allow two things. Non participant visitors to the site will be able to purchase these items directly from the participants, helping them to raise money. In addition, participants will be able to purchase these items in quantity so that they can resell them locally. If you are interested in having an item you’ve created shown on the site, please contact our webmaster Doug Spesert at webmaster@jumpforthecause.com
Chat (Forum) Page: We have an interactive chat page up on the website. This will allow participants to discuss hotel arrangements, travel, etc among each other. It can also be used as a jumpsuit "swap" page for those who have suits left over from the ’99 event that, for whatever reason, they are not using this time around. You can access this forum directly by clicking on this link:

Donation Tracking: Doug has put on the site so women can easily see how many donations have been sent in against their account. Right now it is being updated every two weeks, but I’m hoping to get it updated on a weekly basis in the near future. Check your accounts and see if they tally with your expectations. [You can click here to access that page]
JFTC T-shirts: We're working madly on getting these t-shirts ready and available for sale. They will be on the site when they are ready. Our goal is to offer them in quantity (12 pieces minimum) to participants at or near our cost. The proceeds raised from the sale of the shirts will then be used towards personal accounts. People will also be able to purchase them at retail directly from the website.
Corporate Sponsorship:
JFTC is seeking corporate sponsorship on any level. If any of you have contacts that might lead to sponsorship in form of money and/or product, please contact Richard Seymour rseymour12@earthlink.net with the information. He’ll then follow it up on behalf of JFTC.
Newsletters: All the old newsletters are on the website. [They can be accessed by links at the bottom of this page]. They contain a wealth of valuable information pertinent to this event. Names, addresses, contact information, dates, etc. Please, before you call or e-mail with a question, take a moment to see if it is answered in the newsletter. If it isn’t, then by all means contact me or Richard and we’ll do our best to answer it for you.
May Newsletter: Now, don’t get too choked up, but there will most likely NOT be a May Newsletter as I’ll be out of town (jumping of course!) May 15-29th. While I’m on the road I can be reached at my travel e-mail katejumps@hotmail.com Mallory, Richard etc will be reachable as well. When I get back, tanned, rested and ready, I’ll work on updating you on JFTC happenings in a June letter.
Feedback: If there is anything that you would like to see addressed, either in one of these newsletters or on the site, please let me know. If you have interest in it, then probably the rest of the team does as well.
City of Hope: JFTC is now listed on the website of City of Hope as a sponsor. Please check out the link at

OLD BUSINESS:
Paperwork: Richard is still missing information from the majority of participants. Please please send in your: Donations, photos, USPA (if applicable) and FAI paperwork. Richard also needs to know if you are reusing a 1999 pink (or other color) suit or whether you need a new one made. Lastly, he needs to know if you require a hotel room, and who you would like to room with. The quicker we can get that information, the easier on everyone. Please don’t make us ask you for it individually as that is a huge misuse of time and energy.
Jumpsuits: Please download and measure for a JFTC suit if you will be needing one. Please do it TODAY. Jumpsuits require lead time, and our manufacturers have given us a deeply discounted price on the suits expecting not to have to make 100+ in the last month. Please do this now. Remember that you will need to have at least $250 on account before the suit can be ordered. I don’t know the colors (exactly) that we will be using as we are still finalizing both the formation and the color coding thereof. Just place the orders and we’ll deal with the colors when we’ve made our final decisions.
Recruitment: If you know of any qualified, competent and confident women out there that I may not have contacted yet, please either have them contact me or get me their information and I’ll contact them
Donations: I keep hearing stories from participants about wonderful donations that are being sent to them for JFTC. The only thing I can guarantee you is that if you don’t try to get sponsorship, then it will not happen. People want to help other people, you just need to get out there and ask for the sponsorship. And please remember to send them into JFTC head quarters when you get them. We need this money to organize the event!
That’s all for this month. As usual, if you have any questions that are not addressed on the website or in the newsletters, please let me know. I look forward to seeing each of you and jumping with you again.
