8:30AM  After being serenaded by the JFTC support team, the ladies are taking to the air; we should have a World Record here soon.

10:00AM  Jump number one for the day found only a few ladies out. Currently the ladies are making a few changes and dirt diving jump number two for the day.

NOON  We have a unofficial record, 131 women came to fight breast cancer and set a skydiving record in the mean time.  Now we must wait for our wonderful group of judges to make this skydive official.

1:00PM  131 women traveled to Perris Valley Skydiving to fight cancer, in the process these ladies set a World Record!  At 11:22AM Pacific Standard Time these ladies set the world's largest all women’s skydive.  At the official announcement Judge Judy presented our official spokes sock (Lamb Chop Lewis) with her USPA and NAA membership cards.  These ladies will be returning to the sky to beat their current record.

4:00PM  The final JFTC skydive is over and the ladies are happy with the record they have, currently a few of the ladies are joining the JFTC Support Team for one last jump.

Friday October 18th, 2002

8:30AM  JFTC participant Barbara Duke is being interviewed by the news media.  Barbara has been chosen because she is a breast cancer survivor and friend of Shannon Embry.

NOON  We are still sitting on the ground waiting for the weather to clear.  A slew of media crews have been interviewing Kate Cooper on the art of big way organizing.  When the ladies get their record our sport will enjoy it’s fifteen minutes of fame.

1:00PM  Fifteen minutes until jump number one for the day!  One can feel the energy in the air, these ladies only need one more jump to achieve their goal.

1:45PM  The ladies are airborne!!

2:30PM  Jump number 9 was great, with only three broken grips these ladies are so close to their record!

5:00PM  Record anticipation is building, jump number two for the day found another near completion in the formation.  On a lighter note the JFTC Support team strapped on their coconuts and pink panties to offer a tribute to the ladies.

6:00PM  The ladies of JFTC broke three records today but one alluded them.  Having held their 132 way formation for 2.3 seconds the ladies broke their former record of 118, set the California state record, and broke the Perris Valley field record.  You must remember an official FAI record has to be held for 3 seconds to be official so the ladies have another record to set tomorrow.  CONGRATULATIONS Ladies!!!

11:00AM  Under gray skies JFTC ladies are spending their downtime dirt diving their next jump.  The ladies were greeted this morning with a message of courage from the City of Hope representatives.  Many non-skydivers have asked why the City of Hope would support a group of extreme women.  Their response brought cheers from the crowd, “The City of Hope doesn’t support extreme women in sports, they support professionals partaking in sporting events!”  JFTC thanks the City of Hope in continuing their support of our goals.

1:30PM  Dirt dive, just jumpsuits, the weather isn’t looking much better.

3:30PM  Finally we are getting a plane airborne the JFTC Support Team has taken to the air to find a hole for in the clouds for the ladies.  After this jump the event directors will decide if they can get 140 women into the air.

4:00PM  For the first time in a day and a half the ladies have taken to the air!   It will prove to be a cold skydive but these are focused women.

5:00PM  Jump number 8 found ice crystals at altitude but the ladies were willing to suffer to get their record.  It was good for the women to dust off the cobwebs and get their legs back, giving a charged start to tomorrow.

Wednesday October 16th, 2002

10:00AM  Each JFTC participant has come to Perris Valley to help fight cancer however, we’ve lost numerous friends to cancer.  Today’s agenda allows time for a memorial to remember those we’ve lost.  Prayers, moments of silence and offerings to those they love fill the head’s of each jumper as the stand around the tree planting memorial.

NOON  The skies are still covered in clouds, so the JFTC group headed to the Salvation Army to pick out some rock’n 70’s attire.

1:30PM  After shopping and lunch the ladies are out dirt diving as we are still on a weather hold!

4:30PM  It’s officially a weather day, with the charge to keep the energy high Kate Cooper has released the masses to party.

Tuesday October 15th, 2002

9:30AM  Though the fog has yet to lift, the ladies of JFTC are donning their jumpsuits readying for today’s first dirt dive.  The mood for today is a bit somber but the ladies are ready to jump.  Kate Cooper reminded the participants that Shannon Embry died doing what she loved most.

10:30AM When the fog lifts jumpers will be traveling to 16,000’ as such jumpers are currently learning how to use their oxygen systems.  Everyone is ready to jump the minute blue skies are spotted.

11:30AM  Wheels up for jump number one of day number two.  The sun has finally broken through, with wishes of safe skydives the ladies take to the air.

2:10PM  Jump two is under way with 140 women aboard their aircraft.

3:00PM  Building to the largest formation yet, jump number two found almost 60% of the group docking.  However, this jump ended with three cutaways but each jumper landed safely!

5:30PM  Wheels up on today’s final jump.

6:30PM  The day’s final jump proved to be the most successful thus far, with over 100 of the ladies docking on their part of the formation!!  Being only jump 7 of 30, this very good progress thus far.

Monday October 14th, 2002

7:30AM  And so it begins- the 2002 Jump for the Cause Woman’s World Record.  Our first wheels up call should come around 11:00AM.  Currently 141 women are squeezing into their bright pink jumpsuits readying for their first dirt dive.  Brad Hood has promised up-to-date photos as soon as he lands; keep posted to this site for the play by play.

11:00AM  25 minutes until the woman’s first record attempt.  Along with the women two City of Hope staff members have decided to do a tandem skydive.  Mallory Lewis/Tarcher and Jump for the Cause’s official spokes lamb, Lamb Chop, is currently being interviewed by channel 7’s Bob Banfield for tonight’s news broadcast please tune in.

NOON  Finally the wheels are up!  For our non-skydivers that means that as I type this up-date the women’s aircraft are taking off.  The first jump will be to the normal 12,500’ giving the ladies a chance to warm up their new jumpsuits.

Sorry, picture isn't loaded yet

1:00PM  Congratulations are in order!!   Today Lamb Chop did her very first Tandem skydive.  A second congrats is due for first time tandem instructor Melanie.  Ms. Chop loved joining 141 skydivers in freefall and is quoted as saying “I’ll do it again.”

2:30PM  Jump number two is under way with the take off of the lead Casa.  All exit order troubles have been ironed out and the excitement is building.  Kate Cooper “Our goals for today are to allow each jump participant to identify their slot and learn how to fly their positions.  On world record attempts we use the first few days as the opportunity to figure out what’s going on.”

4:45PM The last jump of day one just took to the sky, the ladies spirits riding high.
