The Breast Cancer Site is having trouble getting enough people to click on it daily to meet their quota of donating at least one free mammogram a day to an underprivileged woman. It takes less than a minute to go to their site & click on "Fund Free Mammograms" for free (pink window in the middle). Their corporate sponsors/advertisers use the number of daily visits to donate a mammogram in exchange for advertising. Here's the website! Please pass it along to ALL your friends!

Several new names of sponsors were added today to our "Sponsors" page. In an attempt to make it easier to load, we have split the page into several segments. Our sponsors offer many great and valuable products for the skydiving community and the public at large. All of the logos link to the sponsors' own websites- our sponsors section is a GREAT resource for all of us, and we can show our gratitude for their helping JFTC out by supporting them! We have uploaded an important study guide about High Altitude jumping, courtesy of Wendy Smith, one of our participants. She helped prepare this for the New Zealand Parachuting Association and it is mandatory reading for any person making a parachute jump over 13,000'. It is in Microsoft Word format. You can access the document here; it also can be accessed from the bottom of the particpants section of our Home page.

The JFTC Store page is now online, with JFTC-related items that you can buy for yourself, or to raise money for your contribution. Check it out! If you have any items that you are using to raise funds,
too, send information to Doug the Webmaster and he will get them online ASAP. The sooner the items are out there for sale, the more
money you will make! And you can support your other team members by buying the merchandise they have created to help the cause, too.
As you can see above, there is now a "Quick Reference" section to access the more important links on this site. So much information has
been coming through the pipeline, that it has been hard to find things buried in past bulletins. We hope this list of links will simplify things for everyone!
If you have any ideas or comments about the site (or you find typos that have passed the proofing of these pages!), you can either contact
the webmaster at the email address above, or voice your opinion in the
JFTC Forum, and let others read and comment on your ideas!
Thanks, Virginia, for the editing assistance!

The page is now up with a listing of all the monies collected by the participants so far. You can access it by clicking here. There is also a bar chart comparing the donations raised by all of you who have raised above the minimum $225. Maybe seeing how the monies stack up will give you some incentive to forge ahead of the others! After all, remember, we are raising money for breast cancer research!!!
We now have a flyer in Word format that you can download and print out to help you with your fundraising efforts. Click here to access it.
Also, we are providing a two-page flyer about the City of Hope, the recipient of the money we will be collecting, that you can also print out and send off to your friends and the others from whom you are soliciting funds. It's a pretty big file (686KB), so it's problematic for older computers and telephone line modems, but it will download in just a few seconds on newer models with cable modems or DSL. Click here to access that file. If you do not have the Adobe Acrobat reader software, you can get that by clicking here.

A message from Kate Cooper:
Hi Ladies
First, I am happy to say that our ranks are swelling by the day. We now
have participants from the US, Japan, Russia, New Zealand, Australia,
Canada, Germany, Norway, France, Italy, Brazil, United Kingdom,
Denmark, Korea and Texas joining us. 14 countries and growing! :-)
Pretty cool, eh?
I have several items I'd like to run by you, so I'll just list them
below to make sure you absorb each of them
a) Dates for this event: We are JUMPING October 14th-19th. Travel
dates are the 13th and the 20th. You will receive 6 nights hotel and 6
days jumping. In a blond moment I think that I sent out some paperwork
with slightly different dates.
b) I need each of you (US Based) to apply for a sporting license,
also known as a FAI stamp, through the NAA. Their web address is www.naa-usa.org. I just got mine, they are processing them quickly right
now. I also need your proof of USPA membership good through end
October, 2002.
For non-us based participants. I'll need to see a copy of your current
Aeroclub membership with 2002 FAI stamp. Membership should be valid
through end October, 2002.
I understand from our judge, Judy Celaya, that USPA no longer requires
any minimum license for US based participants. I'd still feel much
better if you came holding a "C" or "D" license. For foreign
participants, you'll need to see if your own country requires a minimum
license for World Record participation and provide proof of same.
c) I need a completed registration form as soon as possible from each
participant. I'll also need two (2) passport size photographs from each
participant. Please write your name on the back (in non smudgeable ink)
on each photo so we don't misplace you. This is a new request. If you
have already sent in your reg form, you can send the photos in with the
FAI stamp and/or Aeroclub membership information.
NOTE--For items B and C-- Please mail copies and information to:
Richard Seymour
7301 Ruffner Ave
Van Nuys CA 91406
You can e-mail me and let me know that you have done so and I'll note it
on my master list, but Richard is our grand keeper of the paperwork.
d) Jumpsuits. I will be sending out jumpsuit order forms in the next
month or so. I need to know who is planning on reusing a suit from the
'99 event, and what color you have. (no, not all of them were pink). If
you have a suit that you can't use, I'll see about setting up a "trade"
board where gals can compare sizes and trade or share suits
e) We have quite a number of ladies who have small children and/or
babies. As a result, we are looking into the feasibility of providing
day care during the event so your partners can jump. If you are
interested in this, please e-mail Mallory jumprun@earthlink.net with
the number and ages (as of October) of your little ones. We'll get back
to you at a later date with plans and costs.
f) Donations. We are planning on having an area on the website where
you will be able to access your current donation status. This will most
likely be done by assigning a unique identifier to each participant.
Until this is done, please make sure that all donations being sent in
are clearly marked with your name. If a larger donation is to be split
among several participants, please again make sure that all names are
sent in with it.
g) Perris Skydiving will be hopping the entire week that we are
jumping. There will be many airplanes and many jumpers, so please bring
along your mates, friends, etc. There is even some talk of putting up
some "boy" loads in between ours. I guess we can't mind about that, eh?
I'll let you know more closer to the event.
h) I'll be out of the office, organizing at several events, from
February 19th through March 19th. You may e-mail me during that time,
but you will not receive any responses until I return. If you need to
get in touch with me, I will be accessible at katejumps@hotmail.com I
will not have my files and spreadsheets with me, so I will not be able
to enter in any data while on the load. I will be able to answer general
questions.
i) I am hosting a Big Way Camp, along with Tony Domenico and Dan BC
on May 16-19th at Skydive Arizona (eloy). This will be an EXCELLENT
opportunity to hone your skills on big way techniques, and to learn what
organizers expect to see from you in the air. Registration is available
on line at www.airspeed.org.
j) Please let me know if your e-mail address changes. E-mail is the
main way, and in some cases the only way, I have of contacting you. I
know that some ISP's are changing, and it is important that we have your
most current address at all times.
k) By special request we are making available "thank you for donating
cards". They will be 4" x 8", with the left hand side being a photo of
the 1999 Women's Record and the right hand side saying one of two
things: "Thank you for donating to the 2002 Women's World Record" OR "A
donation has been made in your name to the 2002 Women's World Record".
(Your choice, please specify when ordering) The cards MUST be bought in
a minimum order of 100, and cost $75.00 per 100 ordered. Shipping and
handling are INCLUDED in that cost. Mail your request and check to Jump
For The Cause, 30490 Morning View Dr, Malibu CA 90265 and remember to
INCLUDE YOUR ADDRESS, so I can send 'em to you!
Whew. That's it (for now). I am sure I will have another mailing ready
for you by end March, hopefully with jumpsuit information. Thanks to
everyone for the positive messages Mallory and I have been getting about
this event. It's a lot of work, but it's truly a labor of love. The
wonderful energy we get from each of you makes it all worth while!
Again, I apologize for sending out these messages without the recipient
list suppressed. I had several ladies say that the last message I sent
was the first they had received, so I guess I'll have to keep doing that
for future mailings.
As usual, please let me know if you have any questions. I'll be in
office until the 19th of February, and I'll continue to work on JFTC
until I leave for the airport!

Jump for the Cause Women's World Record Bulletin #8 January 25, 2002
A message from Kate Cooper:
Greetings!
As we enter into the new year, I would like to tell you that response to JFTC has been amazing. Well over half the load is confirmed now, with more talented women calling every day.
The website is being worked on daily, and has been removed from its host site, www.square1.com. If you enter www.jumpforthecause.com you will be sent directly to the JFTC site now. We have gained a wonderful new sponsor in www.dropzone.com. Sangiro, the manager of this wonderful and informative site is placing banner ads for JFTC at no cost throughout the rest of the year. Please take a moment to check out this site and tell Sangiro "THANK YOU" for his generosity. There will also be an interview of our very own Mallory showcased on the front page in coming days.
We've had a lot of potential sponsors (and participants) who have expressed interest in knowing more about both the expenses for the 1999 JFTC Women's World Record and the upcoming 2002 JFTC Women's World Record. The corporation is a publicly held one, and the records are simple to retrieve, but to facilitate this, Mallory has written an excellent letter that is soon to be posted on our website which explains the expensing for the upcoming event completely. None of the organizers, Mallory, Brad, Tony or myself are, or have ever, taken a salary for any of the JFTC events we have held. We donate our time.
I need some paperwork from each of you. If you are a member of USPA and will be representing the United States in this record, please provide me with a copy of the following:
1) A copy of your 2002 FAI stamp. To get this, you will need to join the NAA: www.naa-usa.org.
2) A copy of your USPA membership card which shows that you are at least a "C" license holder and that your membership will extend past October 31, 2002. If your current membership will expire prior to that date, please send a copy of the current card with the copy of the FAI stamp, and then send the proof of the renewed membership when the time comes.
If you are not a USPA member, or if you want to represent your own aeroclub, you will need to provide me with a copy of your current aeroclub paperwork, good through October 31, 2002, with 2002 FAI stamp.
You will NOT BE ABLE to participate on this event if you do not have both a current (2002) FAI stamp and a current (through October 31, 2002) USPA or foreign equivalent membership.
There, now to the part you have been waiting for, the Rebate listed on the subject line (I had to put this last, else you wouldn't have read all the other stuff first!). Mallory, Brad, Tony and myself are aware that the events of September 11 have grievously impacted the nations ability to donate to charities. Many people are, to put it simply, tapped out. In addition, our foreign participants don't have the advantage of the tax free status to help to raise donations.
Therefore, we have decided to offer the following INCENTIVES to participants of JFTC.
a) If you were a participant on the 1999 Women's World Record, and you still have your suit, then you can use this suit again on the 2002 record. If you choose this option, you may deduct $150 from the amount due for this event. You need to let me know if you want to do this, and what color suit you have.
b) If you live local to the Perris area, or know persons who do, you can waive the free hotel section of the event. By staying at a friends house you can deduct $150 from the amount due for this event. You need to let me know if you are going to do this.
c) If JFTC receives your deposit of at least $225 on or before March 1st, 2002, then you can reduce the total amount due by $250, for a total of $2,000 (less the above deduction, if taken). If you have already sent in your deposit, first, THANK YOU--this is seed money that is very much needed, then you will still receive the rebate. Your total due is only $2,000. If you have paid in full, even a bigger THANK YOU! you can request a refund whenever convenient for you.
If a participant takes advantage of all three options listed above, she will have to raise as little as $1,700 to participate in this week long WORLD RECORD SETTING wonderful event. The choice of the incentives is up to you, you can take advantage of all three, or none, such is your will.
I do encourage women to raise as much money as possible. Lowering just the base amount by $250 multiplied by 141 women means that the charity will receive $35,250 less than they were previously. The jumpsuit and hotel costs are "hard costs", so the use (or non use) will not affect the bottom line. In fact I encourage people to use the 1999 PINK suits, even if you need to borrow one, as it will mean less work for me when suit time comes.
I have requested this before, and will again. If you are a SURE THING for this event, please tell me if you have not already done so. If you are a MAYBE, the same applies. If you are upgrading from a MAYBE to a YES!!, then please tell me, and sadly, if you are a NO for any reason, let me know and I will remove you from the list. There are a lot of ladies who have not responded in any fashion, and I don't know your status. Don't get left out of the party of the year!
Lastly, I have had a number of women say that they aren't getting my e-mails, and/or can't open attachments. Therefore I am going to send this out without the usual bcc's (blind carbon copies) and attachments, as I fear that some ISP's might be interpreting this as spam. Sorry for the name list, I'll try and keep them small by sending out multiples.
As usual, please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks for your support and enthusiasm, and I look forward to seeing you all in freefall again! Remember you need to get your deposit in no later than March 1st to take full advantage of the Incentives!
